The Friend

I was reading the friend a while back and found this little story. It made me cry, it was so sweet and precious.

My Brother and the Resurrection
B Y L A U R I E WA L K E R
(Based on a true story)

Michelle stood up in front of
the entire Primary, not sure
if she was ready to do
this. In Primary during the month
of April, they were talking about
Jesus Christ’s Atonement. Michelle
had been excited when it was her class’s
turn to give the talk and say the prayer in
opening exercises. She had asked if she could give
the talk, knowing just what she would talk about.
But now she wasn’t so sure. Her stomach was feeling
funny, and her mouth was dry. Then she saw her mom
and dad in the back of the room and remembered the
prayer they had together that morning. Now she didn’t
feel quite so scared anymore.
Michelle took a deep breath and held up a picture
of a tiny baby. “This is my brother. His name is David
Alan, and he would have been three years old this year.
But when he was born, he couldn’t breathe very well.
He stayed alive in the hospital long enough to have
a blessing, and then he died. I never got to see my
brother, and sometimes I’m really sad about that.”
Then Michelle held up a picture of Jesus. “But
because of the Atonement and Resurrection, I don’t
have to be sad all the time. When Jesus died and came
back to life, He made it possible for my little brother to
one day have a perfect body. That will happen when
Jesus comes back to earth and
people are resurrected. I can hardly
wait, because then I will see my
little brother again.”
Michelle held up her brother’s
picture again. “I know sometimes
people have to die. My family still gets
sad sometimes when we think of David
Alan. But we know that Jesus suffered for
our sins, died for us, and was resurrected
so that we can be resurrected too.
“I’m glad I’ll be able to see my little brother
and that he will be healthy. I’m also glad that
Heavenly Father and Jesus loved us enough to
make the Atonement happen so we can see the people
we love again. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ,
amen.”
Michelle stepped down from the podium. When she
went to the back of the room, she gave her mom and
dad a big hug.
“You did a wonderful job,” Mom whispered.
“We love you so much,” Dad said.
Michelle felt happy after her talk because Heavenly
Father put a good feeling in her heart. She knew He
loved her too. ●

Easter Weekend

I love Easter. Sadly I didn't get to wake up to find a basket full of chocolate, but I did get to give sharing time on the Atonement!! hehe Some times I think that my sharing times are a gong show. I always finish early and have to think of something off of the top of my head pertaining to the topic. So this time, everything was going fine, the kids were enjoying the egg hunt of the letters of the word Atonement. We talked about it, read some scriptures, and then I looked up at the clock and realized I still had 6 minutes!! eeek! what was I supposed to do? colour pictures of course?!?! haha so I had everyone draw a picture of something that reminds them of Jesus.... Deary Me.... Maybe next time I will come prepared with extra activities or scriptures to read.

Friday we went hiking with my sister and her family. We went up to Johnston Canyon, near Banff. its 1.5km to the first falls and then another 1.5km to the second falls. I didn't think about all the Ice there would be, It would have been nice to have spikes on our shoes. Even with all the ice it was fun. It was so Beautiful. The water falls were frozen over, but were still bright blue! it was amazing!

Here are some pictures.

Steve on the icy pathway..
Saturday we went to buy a freezer. We came home Friday night at 1 am after hanging out at my sisters, to find that our freezer door was open. I thought to my self.. I don't remember opening it up before we left that morning..?? so we looked inside to find a box of burgers had fallen and pushed the door open... jeeze and just after our trip to Costco to get meat (we just got a free BBQ!!!) Our fridge and freezer is so small so we cant really fit anything in it... so we decided to go get a deep freeze. We got a steal of a deal... an apartment size freezer for $180!!! super cheap comparable to everywhere else! yay for future shop!

Sunday we made a trip down to see Steve's Grandma. We went with Steve's Dad, who said it was her 97th Birthday on Saturday... Wow I know. I wish I will be able to live that long. she is super cute. I made her a little page with pictures from our wedding of Manville side. I was able to show off more of my scrapbooking. but mostly for her to have pictures to look at.
Monday came waaaaaay to fast! I had to go to work.. so another week begins....

But Mom, everyone else is doing it....

So this is it... I am going to start blogging, I have noticed alot of people doing it. so I thought If everyone else is doing it why shouldnt I?!? Now just to let you know I dont have kids, or anything overly exciting to write about. so this is a word of caution... this may be boring!

So going back a few months I was doing Temp work. I had ben laid off from my job, and I was stressed! (Temping doesnt pay all that much) I kept asking for something interesting and exciting to happen... well I sure got it, I got my job that I have and love right now... I work at Towers Perrin ( a HR consulting company) and I also got called into the Primary presidency...I love it! The kids are great and I love the sisters I work with.

Steve is just about done this semester, only finals now!! Yipee! Then he can start working! I am not sure who is more excited about that, him (so he doesnt have to study), or me ( also for the reason he doesnt have to study or be stressed out about studying)

May 9th is our one year! I can't believe its been a year already! I am not sure what he has planned yet but I am sure it will be great!

I can't wait for summer to start so that we can go camping and play outside... I always hate being cooped up all winter
